There’s an old adage (perhaps a Herreshoff quote) that ‘a yacht should be large enough to carry a dinghy that can hold all her crew’. An undersized tender is a recurring inconvenience so the idea that it should be able to carry the whole crew remains valid, especially if the yacht lacks a liferaft. An even larger tender could prove useful, as could a second, smaller one, but weight, stowage space, and cost all count against large tenders.
