Tell Tales - All a Flutter for Flag Protocol

I was kept awake by halyards clattering all night in the wind, so at first light I got up and peered through the curtains at the offending culprit. If we had been in some exotic harbour with the sound of palm leaves flapping and warm water lapping in unison with the halyards, I wouldn’t have been so perturbed. But, the fact that we were several miles from the sea in the middle of a sleepy suburb made the noise more grating.
