Round the Island Race

This event is no longer just the race around the island, but has changed to the Round the Island Regatta which is now a three-day regatta with all six races that are sailed from the Friday to the Sunday counting towards the final placings. 


The main race is still the actual race around the Island which takes place on the Sunday. The popularity of this event has dwindled over the years and it is no longer the big event of the past. LDYC has tried many ways to lure the sailors back and this year was no exception. They put up large sums of prize money and introduced a new, shorter race for the dinghies which was a race to the Beacon Isle Buoy and back. Despite all this the
