The 2017 SAS Northern Region Interschools regatta took on an exciting new look as sixteen out of the twenty-two schools entered, were sailing the regatta for the very first time. This is thanks to the hard work and many months of coaching at the local sailing schools and sports institutions. The 48-boat fleet was divided into two, namely high school and primary school with the primary school fleet being the larger of the two. The results were scored on handicap so all classes of boats could race against each other.
