Since the first International Hobie event in 1976, South African sailors have embraced this class, and 38 years later boast holding the most World Titles out of any other sailing fleet in South Africa with at least 17 World Champions.


So when the annual Hobie Tiger Nationals come around, these past and present champions meet on the water for intense racing. Names like William Edwards (the current Tiger World title holder), Blaine Dodds (the current 14 World title holder), Shaun Ferry, Allan Lawrence and Colin Whitehead amongst others, battle it out on a short start line, all pushing the boundaries and each other, making this event the most competitive ‘one design’
